Compared to the WelterWeight door, the CruiserWeight can withstand more – specifically, more frequent and stronger panel impacts. It features a 1-¾ inch insulated foam core panel with a damage-resistant polymer interior panel skin or a ¾ inch non-insulated 7-ply wood core panel durable enough to handle heavy impacts.
Both doors can withstand moderate-to-severe track damage and higher wind-load requirements, but the WelterWeight door is the more affordable option, unless you need more protection, in which case it’s better to invest in an overall tougher door option. It’s always more expensive to replace a door that doesn’t quite work for your needs than to install the correct one the first time.
CW Series CruiserWeight Design Features
The CruiserWeight has a full-height, 12-gauge galvanized steel track as well as heavy-duty, retractable plungers that allow the door to release itself from the opening if it is hit. Its tight perimeter weather seal has both a brush seal and a loop seal to ensure that neither air nor light gets through. In addition, it has a flexible bottom seal to ensure an airtight fit to the floor.
