How Does the AquaShield Rain Sealing System Keep Moisture out?

AquaShield Rain Sealing System

Dock seals are essential when it comes to keeping the Michigan winter out of your loading dock. We’ve discussed the advantages of foam-sided dock seals and L-shaped and V-shaped dock seals. In this blog we will talk about the Kelley AQS900 AquaShield Rain Sealing System. This sealing system is excellent at preventing water from getting into your facility and requires very little maintenance.

Water at the loading dock is a danger to both people and products. Rain can easily spoil or ruin products if they are exposed too long to it. Workers can slip and fall if puddling water is not removed. Wet floors are an even more dangerous hazard when heavy machinery is being operated. For all of these reasons, it’s best to have a system in place to keep the wet out – a system like the AquaShield Rain Sealing System.

How Does the AquaShield Rain Sealing System Work?

The Kelley AquaShield’s secret to maintaining a dry loading dock is its wiper pad. This wiper pad engages the trailer at the door, wiping away rain and other moisture. It positions itself automatically when the trailer backs into the loading dock so that no manual intervention is necessary for the Aquashield to work. This rain sealing system covers trailers that are between 12 feet and 9 inches and 13 feet and 6 inches tall.

The AquaShield’s head frame is constructed of heavy-duty galvanized steel. This head frame is raked with translucent fiberglass that allows for water to drain away quickly. The AquaShield has an exceptionally resilient foam core that is further protected by three layers of durable coated fabric and tough support brackets that allow it to be mounted over any existing equipment your facility may already have installed on its loading dock. Its weighted side covers work to provide additional protection against moisture infiltration.

Another great feature of this system is that if anything happens to damage this seal, it is simple and quick to replace. This means less expense for the company in terms of product replacement and very little downtime at the dock.

In the wintertime, especially in places like Michigan, we worry about the cold and snow coming into the loading dock, but moisture is a problem all year round. The AquaShield works to keep both rain and snow out of the building’s interior so that damage and danger is kept to a minimum. Because the product is so straightforward in how it works and requires very little of users to use or maintain, it’s great for all kinds of loading docks.
